Privacy Notice

I take your privacy seriously and will only collect and use the information I need to provide therapy safely and professionally, manage appointments, and keep basic records, in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. This may include your name, contact details, date of birth, GP details, emergency contact details, and information you choose to share during our work together. It may also include health-related information, which is classed as special category data under UK GDPR.

I use your information to:

  • respond to enquiries;

  • arrange and provide therapy sessions;

  • keep basic records and notes;

  • manage appointments and payments; and

  • contact you, your GP, emergency services, or your emergency contact if there is a serious concern about safety.

Everything you share in therapy is confidential and handled in line with BACP ethical guidelines and professional standards. As part of my professional practice, I attend regular clinical supervision, which supports safe, ethical and effective work. In some circumstances, I may need to share information if there are serious concerns about your safety or someone else’s, or if I am required to do so by law. Wherever possible, I will discuss this with you first.

If I were unexpectedly unable to practise because of incapacitation or death, my nominated clinical executor, who is a qualified therapist and bound by the same professional standards, may access your contact details and any relevant clinical records. Their role is limited to informing you of the situation, supporting a safe handover or ending of the work, and securely managing or closing your records. They will not continue as your therapist unless you separately agree to that.

I am the data controller for the personal information you provide, and I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
ICO registration number: ZC152247

I store your information securely using appropriate safeguards. This may include password-protected systems, encrypted devices, secure email, and locked storage for any paper records. I normally keep client records for 7 years after therapy ends, unless I am required to keep them for longer or shorter by law or professional guidance.

I may use third-party services to support my practice, such as Zoom for online sessions and my website/email provider. These services may process your information on my behalf. My website may also use essential cookies to help it work properly.

You have rights over your personal data. You may ask to see or correct the information I hold about you, and in some circumstances you may ask for deletion, restriction, or object to certain types of processing. If you have any concerns about how your data has been handled, please contact me first. You also have the right to complain to the ICO if you remain unhappy.

If you have any questions about this notice or how your information is used, please contact me using the details above.
